Daiwik experience @ Rameshwaram

Showered in 22 thirtham @ Rameshwaram temple last sunday (12th feb), and then had a memorable trip to Dhanushkodi in the afternoon.

Boarded TN state transport Bus No.1 from Rameshwaram to Mugunthraya Chatram (20kms) (Fare 10 per head).
And from there, hired a Tempo to Dhanuskodi (10kms) to travel by sand (Fare 80 per head for up & down).
The mini-tempo ride along with 20 others was an adventerous joy ride on sand road & back waters to reach upto the Land's end, 27 kms south of Rameshwaram... Srilanka was just another 40 kms by sea.
Had to return bare foot as I lost both my footware while on the tempo ride
After the 1964 cyclone, Dhanuskodi is now uninhabited and a restricted place after 6pm.
Once this sprawling town had hotels, textile shops and dharmashalas catering to pilgrims and travellers.
Ruins of a two storied Library building

That is Kothandarama Temple view from Dhanushkodi road.

Sea is so calm in one side and the other side is full of waves.. Locals call the calm beach as Male and the roaring one Female.
Place where both of them joined...Dhanushkodi beach is so shallow that there were people who walked coolly on sea for as far as about 200m...
Visited this famous Church @ Danushkodi on the return trip...The sand was so hot that my foot were burning inside the church premises...The Church walls were built full of Corals!!Traced the railway track filled now with sand... In 1964 cyclone, a train full of passengers had lost their lives; and after that the Indian railways had abandoned this track...
The old railway station which had got ruined is today a mini-shopping place.Had a road side shopping of Kanavathod & local antique.
After reaching back Rameshwaram, shopped a new pair of footware..
It was a tiresome day, but trully memorable!!!

One life, a little gleam of time between two eternities...

Definition: Gleam - A brightness in a person's eyes taken as a sign of a particular emotion

What puts a gleam in your eye? What are the "little things" that leave you with a smile, a tear of joy, a feeling that something has touched your heart? Here are some of the things that put a gleam in my eye....
  • The laughter of my child as they play
  • A small little hand reaching down to pick that first flower of spring and then handing it to me
  • A child's smile
  • The look in my friend's eyes when he watches me
  • The smile of a loved one who hasn't seen you in a while
  • A blessing from an old song
  • A greetings in the mail from my sister
  • A quick note or phone call from a dear friend
  • The suns rays as they burst through the cloudy sky
  • An eagle as it soars through the sky proud and free
  • A hand holding mine
  • A hug
  • The words "Good job!"
  • Driving through the country side with my window down and music blasting
  • A good bargain
  • Staying with my parents
  • Just being silly with my family
  • The smell of a new baby doll
  • The sounds of the birds on a quiet summer day
  • The ocean
  • The rain on the roof
  • The first butterfly of the season
  • Going barefoot through the grass or beach
Any time life gets to you and you start feeling overwhelmed, just stop and ponder on the things that bring a gleam to your eye.

one door short of becoming a swiss bank...

With the discovery of largest ever treasure of gold valued more than 500 tones of gold from 5 of the 6 secret chambers, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is overflowing with riches. No wonder India was the richest country in the world. The Travancore rulers should be credited for their care taking the wealth dedicated to God for centuries. Now that decision by the Supreme Court was towards accounting this wealth, its wise to use a portion of this wealth for nation building. Else, it would eventually find its way to wrong hands, because now we are in the world of Democracy & Not Autocracy.

Uthradam Thirunnal Marthanda Varma, the present heir of the royalty, did not want to say anything about the treasure, describing it as the wealth of Lord Padmanabha. “I must not say anything about it. I am just seeing what is happening,” he said.

Teeny-Tiny

ONCE upon a time there was a teeny-tiny woman who lived in a teeny-tiny house in a teeny-tiny village. Now, one day this teeny-tiny woman put on her teeny-tiny bonnet, and went out of her teeny-tiny house to take a teeny-tiny walk. And when this teeny-tiny woman had gone a teeny-tiny way, she came to a teeny-tiny gate; so the teeny-tiny woman opened the teeny-tiny gate, and went into a teeny-tiny churchyard. And when this teeny-tiny woman had got into the teeny-tiny churchyard, she saw a teeny-tiny bone on a teeny-tiny grave, and the teeny-tiny woman said to her teeny-tiny self, 'This teeny-tiny bone will make me some teeny-tiny soup for my teeny-tiny supper.' So the teeny-tiny woman put the teeny-tiny bone into her teeny-tiny pocket, and went home to her teeny-tiny house.

Now, when the teeny-tiny woman got home to her teeny-tiny house, she was a teeny-tiny bit tired; so she went up her teeny-tiny stairs to her teeny-tiny bed, and put the teeny-tiny bone into a teeny-tiny cupboard. And when this teeny-tiny woman had been to sleep a teeny-tiny time, she was awakened by a teeny-tiny voice from the teeny-tiny cupboard, which said:

'Give me my bone!'

And this teeny-tiny woman was a teeny-tiny frightened, so she hid her teeny-tiny head under the teeny-tiny clothes and went to sleep again. And when she had been to sleep again a teeny-tiny time, the teeny-tiny voice again cried out from the teeny-tiny cupboard a teeny-tiny louder,

'Give me my bone!'

This made the teeny-tiny woman a teeny-tiny more frightened, so she hid her teeny-tiny head a teeny-tiny further under the teeny-tiny clothes. And when the teeny-tiny woman had been to sleep again a teeny-tiny time, the teeny-tiny voice from the teeny-tiny cupboard said again a teeny-tiny louder,

'Give me my bone!'

And this teeny-tiny woman was a teeny-tiny bit more frightened, but she put her teeny-tiny head out of the teeny tiny clothes, and said in her loudest teeny-tiny voice, 'TAKE IT!'
